Job Description:

Our client, an international Fortune 100 company, has exclusively engaged us to identify another environmental attorney to join its legal team at the company’s Mid-West headquarters.  This will be the second attorney joining this company’s talented environmental remediation team this year.  Client prefers candidates to have around 4-12 years of environmental experience for this position; the level of responsibility with which this person will be entrusted will be commensurate with his/her particular level of experience. Candidates must have graduated from a top law school (first or second tier ranking) and have environmental law experience at an AmLaw 200 law firm and/or a large corporation. 

Responsibilities will include complex CERCLA case management including PRP group participation, allocation, litigation, negotiation with agencies and responding to agency requests for information.  Candidates should have experience with case management of legal issues involving remediation and reclamation on a global basis.  Ideal candidates will have experience with Superfund mega-sites, complex technological remedies including sediments and risk management.  Candidates should also possess experience counseling clients with respect to TSCA, OSHA, FDA, RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, sustainability and climate change issues, mining reclamation, and environmental due diligence in real estate and commercial transactions.

Additional responsibilities will include: selecting and actively managing external counsel and experts; establishing and monitoring financial reserves and expense budgets; coordinating with the client’s Corporate Risk Management team regarding insurance matters; and overseeing paralegals and administrative staff.

This individual will also need to excel at handling multiple projects simultaneously and exhibit a high level of integrity and maturity.
